Daily DevotionalsI've recently focused on reading my Bible through devotionals, daily (or as close as possible) time set aside to read parts of the Bible that are in the same book, have the same theme, etc. I began with Proverbs at my cousin's suggestion-- a chapter a day for a month. Next, I want to read the Letters. There are twenty-one, between the New Testament letters and the Catholic letters. {Catholic letters being those of James, Peter, John, and Jude.} They are the bulk of the New Testament and whole caches of information, knowledge, and inspiration that will fuel our faith. They are written to real people with hints, tips, and encouragement as to how we can strengthen and live out our faith. Why should I NOT use these? I am currently in between devotionals, though. Today I want to share two pieces of Scripture that I found recently which really resonated with me, and I hope you will find value in them as well. Various VersesFirst, Titus 2:11-3:15.
"Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, [love] is not pompous, it is not inflated, it is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury, it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails." Try putting your girlfriend/boyfriend or crush's name in for "love," is it all true? Better yet, put your own name in- is that all true? Strive for it to be. Sadie RobertsonSadie Robertson is one of my greatest inspirations. She is transparent, uplifting, personable, genuine, and so much more. Here's some wisdom from Sadie for your day.
Sadie Robertson January 21 at 2:27pm · We worry so much about what we put in our mouth. We are so on guard about what we put in our mouth so that we will look good on the outside. Why don't we do that with our hearts? We will diet from gluten, carbs and sugar from our mouth, but we won't guard our hearts from hatred, jealousy, negativity and gossip. Maybe instead of spending all of our time worrying about what's going IN our mouth we should start worrying about what's coming OUT of our mouth. That starts with your heart. That's what's going to make a difference in your world. #guardyourheart (inspiration from the sermon Mood Swingers by Steven Furtick)
