4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Even if you're not religious, I would like to think that almost everyone has heard 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, the Love Is passage in the New Testament of the Bible. You know, "Love is patient, love is kind"? That is my relationship goals, wrapped up in a 4 verse passage. When I think of me and my future spouse, I think this:
We are patient, we are kind. We do not envy, we do not boast, we are not proud. We do not dishonor others, we are not self-seeking, we are not easily angered, we keep no record of wrongs. We do not delight in evil but rejoice with the truth. We always protect, always trust, always hope, always persevere. We never fail.
Many people in our modern society have concocted a picture in their mind of the perfect guy or girl, the perfect relationship. These pictures are usually referred to as "relationship goals." Well, I don't really have a physical picture of me and some hunk, or what our wedding or house or kids will look like. No, I'm picturing what our relationship will be like. I imagine us laughing or relaxing, out with friends for a dinner, but I'm not imagining the faces and the places, I am imagining just how wonderful it will feel.
