A ship in port is safe, but that is not what ships are built for.
This is a good quote to remember while we are preparing for high school. We are the ships. The port is [my old school]. I have been here for almost a decade. Nine years is a long time. But it is now time to head out into the sea of our different high schools and find our port there. We, the human race, are stronger than we thing. For many of us, all our lives are spent in the same port. If we would put ourselves up to battling the crashing waves, we might just get further than before. However, that's only if we do what we were built for.
I just wanted to share with you guys my latest English assignment! Thought it would make a great project. We had to identify a social power or influence that we wanted to shake off and then answer various questions about how and why we were to do that.

I will not watch screens and use electronics as much as I do now.
1. Television, Instagram, the world wide web, email, Pinterest, texting- these and more take up a large amount of my time, time which I could be using to make art, refine my photography skills, become a more dedicated ballerina, read more books, write a better blog, complete a much neater manicure or pedicure, try different hair and makeup techniques, take my dog on a walk, go for a walk/jog/run, organize various things, and so much more! These electronic habits are taking over my free time, and I want to change that. I could be so much more productive with this time. This influence is definitely my responsibility, but some might say that it is also society’s because we have let electronics so far into our everyday schedule. My plan to avoid this influence is simple: be productively active in times when I usually watch television or procrastinate on my computer etc. I don’t plan to stop doing all these things, but to do them in moderation. When I can’t avoid this influence, that’s okay. I just won’t give it my attention for hours on end. When, not if, I backslide, I will easily be able to convince myself to go back to moderately enjoying these privileges. After I spend an extensive amount of time, I feel groggy and cranky, and my temper is even shorter. I realize that I’m snapping at people, but I just can’t stop that- they “interrupted” my screen time, which I know is a horrible excuse because I’ve already been staring at that screen for more than an hour. I hate that groggy, cranky, testy feeling, which is why I say that I am able to easily convince myself to go back to moderation.
An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind.
This quote's themes are friendship and worldly matters.
"An eye for an eye" means paying back hatred with hatred. This means that if we hold grudges with everyone, the people of world will no longer be united.
Jesus said, "Do unto others as you would have them do to you." So we shouldn't take "an eye for an eye" but rather "forgive as your father in Heaven has forgiven you" and unite as a whole. Forgive and don't hold grudges, take care of everyone, whether you like them or not. You don't have to love every one, but treat them like they are human and with respect.
I had some tech problems there for a bit- but I'm back!
What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.
We are Christian. We consume the Eucharist. The Eucharist is God. Therefore God is within us. "Nothing is impossible with God." So whatever hurtles we faced in the past, God helped us jump. Whatever obstacles block our paths in the future, He will help us overcome.
This is an important moral message because it boosts our confidence with the fact that we can overcome anything if we let whatever lies within shine brightly.
Today, God will help me overcome annoying people that I face. Tomorrow, He will help me delve deeper into my upcoming Confirmation. In the future, He will be my constant companion as I enter high school.
You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you stop to look fear in the face.
Feb[ruary] 5
If you always run from what you are afraid of, you will become weak, scared, and shy. However if you face you fears you will gain strength, courage, and confidence.
Take reading mass for example. In 7th grade when I first read I could barely focus, I was so nervous. Then I read this year, and it was ok. When I read for the third time, I realized I wasn't nervous at any time during the mass. 2 weeks ago I actually volunteered to read which is something I never would have imagined doing. Now I am confident about reading in Mass.
This time I was prompted for these thoughts in English Lit Honors. I don't have a lot of time to blog right now so this is going to be pretty short... TTYL!
Do you believe that men and women are treated equally in this country today? Explain in detail.
I would say that some situations are gender equal while others aren’t quite there yet. This is also a question that could be interpreted two ways. Some say that equality is fairness or equal in that men get some things that women don’t and women get some things that men don’t. Some say that equality is being the exact same in everything and I do not believe that is a realistic goal. There are some things that men or women are just better at.
Every truth has two sides. It is well to look at both before we commit ourselves to either.
When you hear both sides of the story before deciding it is more justifying to both parties. When Marie* comes to me complaining about Harriet* and her friends, Marie always puts herself in a better light. Harriet will give me the other side of the story. The legal system brings both parties to court to tell their sides of the tale before judging the case. In my own life, before taking sides in an argument, I can investigate and find out who wronged whom and who might be completely unrelated to the disagreement, etc.

These are my thoughts when prompted in Civics class about my thoughts on Ebola, specifically Ebola in the USA...
I think that someone else is bound to get it, but that health workers know to be careful. I’m trying not to be concerned especially because it has been pointed out that people can die from the flu but we don’t freak out about flu season. Also I don’t think it will be a huge epidemic like Africa because we are catching ebola at the start rather than letting it spread first.
Yesterday we had a school assembly for domestic violence awareness...
The assembly focused on the story of Demi Brae Cuccia who was murdered by her ex boyfriend seven years ago, the day after her 16th birthday. It was led by her father who has since partnered up with the Ladies Hospital Aid Society to spread Demi's story and awareness of domestic violence. If you want to learn more about Demi and her story go to the Demi Brae Cuccia Awareness Organization's Facebook page or the LHAS's Facebook page. Remember that if you are in an abusive relationship/ if you are abusing your partner, you need to leave the situation/ reevaluate yourself and change for the better. Demi left this boy because she sensed something was wrong with the relationship. The boy texted her non stop for the next two weeks, begging to come back, finally bargaining for a chance to go to her house and talk. Since the boy was Demi's brother's best friend, Demi thought that it would be fine to invite this boy, who had been to their house on hundreds of occasions, over to her house while she was there alone. He killed her. The period right after a breakup is when all these fatalities and tragic events occur. ALWAYS stay with friends and family and keep them updated when you are breaking up an abusive relationship, or any relationship at that.
I'm not a domestic violence expert- I didn't even realize how huge of a problem it was until yesterday! You probably don't either. Please follow these links and raise awareness for domestic violence. You might just save a life.

I made a pumpkin spice mocha milkshake in a bowl! Vanilla ice cream + french press coffee + pumpkin spice coffee creamer + Hershey's chocolate sauce- mix it all together and spray whipped cream on top, of course ;)
My sister brought in little tomatoes from her garden to ripen while it was too cold outside.
She also made these delicious Honey and Lemon Balm Biscuits-- divine!
My dad and brothers have been working on making a shed under our back deck and I helped out!
I also used a hand saw! My favorite part is the sound it makes when you swing it back and forth, haha.
And while we were outside I let Velvet out in to his pen! He was moving around so much, it took forever to get a good picture!!
faith, family, friends, and food <3
