Yesterday we had a school assembly for domestic violence awareness...The assembly focused on the story of Demi Brae Cuccia who was murdered by her ex boyfriend seven years ago, the day after her 16th birthday. It was led by her father who has since partnered up with the Ladies Hospital Aid Society to spread Demi's story and awareness of domestic violence. If you want to learn more about Demi and her story go to the Demi Brae Cuccia Awareness Organization's Facebook page or the LHAS's Facebook page.
Remember that if you are in an abusive relationship/ if you are abusing your partner, you need to leave the situation/ reevaluate yourself and change for the better. Demi left this boy because she sensed something was wrong with the relationship. The boy texted her non stop for the next two weeks, begging to come back, finally bargaining for a chance to go to her house and talk. Since the boy was Demi's brother's best friend, Demi thought that it would be fine to invite this boy, who had been to their house on hundreds of occasions, over to her house while she was there alone. He killed her. The period right after a breakup is when all these fatalities and tragic events occur. ALWAYS stay with friends and family and keep them updated when you are breaking up an abusive relationship, or any relationship at that. I'm not a domestic violence expert- I didn't even realize how huge of a problem it was until yesterday! You probably don't either. Please follow these links and raise awareness for domestic violence. You might just save a life.

Hey everyone! Here are some pictures from this past weekend! What have you been up to? Comment or email me~ I will respond to everyone! I made a pumpkin spice mocha milkshake in a bowl! Vanilla ice cream + french press coffee + pumpkin spice coffee creamer + Hershey's chocolate sauce- mix it all together and spray whipped cream on top, of course ;) My sister brought in little tomatoes from her garden to ripen while it was too cold outside. She also made these delicious Honey and Lemon Balm Biscuits-- divine! My dad and brothers have been working on making a shed under our back deck and I helped out! I also used a hand saw! My favorite part is the sound it makes when you swing it back and forth, haha. And while we were outside I let Velvet out in to his pen! He was moving around so much, it took forever to get a good picture!!
A civilization flourishes when people plant trees under which they will never sit. Jan[uary] 15 [2013]
If someone has enough money to donate to the poor, hungry, or homeless, they most likely will never be in that situation. We should be green but only the next generations will relax under that "tree." If we give without asking for anything in return, you give up the "shade" so they can enjoy it and then pass it on. [What kind of society would we have if everyone followed this proverb?] We would have a giving society today, with a better world for the next generation. |
